The Contenders Blog Hop

Welcome. Today, I am participating in The Contenders Blog Hop. This is a hop to showcase projects that weren't picked up by the latest call from Paper Crafts magazine. The whole thing starts at Annette Witherspoon's blog HERE. There, all of the entries are linked up for you to see. The best part is that you get to share the love with everyone because we all know that some pretty amazing projects get turned away from the magazine!

My project comes from the Nautical category. I was trying to think outside the normal parameters of what nautical might mean. So, I turned to fish. (I realized after the fact that they were probably more likely looking for boats, flags, rope and anchors) I came up with this little magnet fishing game. My girls love it!

This was SO easy to create. To give the fish dimension, I first stamped in one color and then rolled it in a darker color. You cut them all out and punch a hole for the paper clips. You can purchase magnets at Hobby Lobby and since one side of my magnet was sticky, I added a bit of glitter to it. And, a quick word about the front of the altoid container. That little fishing sign was made from a craft stick. I cut it down, wrote the sentiment in black sharpie and then used a lighter to burn the edges.

Hope you enjoyed! Remember, if you didn't make it this time, to keep on trying! You never know what they are looking for in a particular issue and your card could still have been great, just not quite what they wanted.

Have a great day friends.
